1000 Worldwide Schools

The youth of the world will be the benefactors of such a new single currency and we are currently involving more than 1000 schools worldwide in an international design competition to create the ‘final’ look and name of the new coins.

SCHOOL PROGRAM

The students and professors (first on the left) of the American School of Milan.

640 children (325 boys and 315 girls) aged between 7 and 18 years took part in an internal competition to come up with a name and symbol for the new currency. This was after they had received input from journalist Sandro Sassoli, creator of this project from its start in 1996 and numerous other events such as official celebrations of the Italian Lira, and from Professor Guido Crapanzano, monetary consultant for the Bank of Italy and representative for Italy on the European Central Bank (ECB)’s international jury which chose the Euro banknote designs.
An international jury, comprising the heads of the world’s leading mints, economists, Nobel-prize winners, and figures from the world of culture and entertainment (including Sophia Loren and Carlo Rambaldi, creator of E.T.), Luc Luycx (creator of the uniform side of the Euro coin), and Hans-Henning  Goehrum and Albert Beck (presidents of the World Money Fair), will have the task of selecting and rewarding the children’s best work on giving the new currency its name and design.

SCHOOL PARTECIPATION

The competition for schoolchildren from across the world is a key-point of the UFWC project.

The competition has been organised by the United Future World Currency (UFWC) - Eurodollar project.  Its aim is to find a name and symbol for a single, international virtual currency for the future, thanks to schoolchildren's efforts.

Importantly, this is a non-profit initiative which does not have any political, religious  affiliations or ties to any pressure groups.  Its goal is a single, trans-national currency for the future.

Please note the following key points:

- submission deadline: 15th January 2010. This is to allow time for a  selection of schoolchildren's
drawings to be exhibited at the World Money Fair in Berlin on 29th January 2010.

- Your best works will also be shown next years at an exhibit at the United Nations headquarters in
New York, USA, and at the European Parliament.

- Due to the volume of works received, we are unable to return children's drawings, the works become
our copyright property at the moment of receipt.

- The final winners shall be awarded a gold, silver gold-plated silver UFWC sample coins respectively
for first, second and third prize.

We invite you to read and file the attached entry form. Should you require any further information do not hesitate to email to info@futureworldcurrency.com

We very much hope that also your school will joint us in this historic project.
